WHO WE ARE

Our Mission

Our vision

To build a cohesive and inspiring female hockey team, where empowered student-athletes come together, driven by passion and a culture for personal growth.

Prince Albert Northern Bears is a female AAA midget hockey program for Saskatchewan women ages fifteen to seventeen. The Bears are proud members of the Saskatchewan Female AAA Hockey League (SFMAAAHL) along with 6 other teams including: Battleford Sharks, Notre Dame Hounds, Swift Current Wildcats, Regina Rebels, Saskatoon Stars and Weyburn Gold Wings. The Bears and the SFMAAAHL are entering their sixteenth year in existence. The program was created to provide an opportunity for young female athletes in Saskatchewan to develop their skills and to compete in a high-level female AAA hockey league. This promotes the development of female hockey in Saskatchewan, as well as provide a competitive outlet for female hockey players to pursue their goals of college and university hockey.

The Bears program is a very active program where the girls have on ice practice, dry land, fitness training, and game tape review each week in Prince Albert, SK. The Bears play approximately thirty regular season games each year. Each year the BEARs plan to attend two recognized hockey tournaments where multiple post-secondary and Team Canada scouts attend. In the past these tournaments have included: the Mandi Schwartz Memorial Tournament, the Firestarter Tournament, the ESSO Cup, Central Plains Capital Showcase. BEARs program also offers additional development opportunities for its players. It provides players with access to guest coaches, nutrition and mental health training, and exposure to post-secondary and Team Canada scouts.
